Sometimes there are places which simply capture us, heart and soul. Portland, Oregon is such a place for Uma. "To view the Columbia River Gorge or see Mt. Hood is to know the presence of a higher power." And the city itself? "I can’t think of many other places which better capture my version of the good life. The food, Powell's books, wine country, shopping, and a bit of non-comformist attitude." After her last visit, Uma's head was swimming with the perfect room to capture the mood and spirit of life in the City of Roses.
For the Portland Room vignette at Furbish, shades of grey, green, and blue and the presence of white were required to set the overall tone. Artifacts belonging to a naturalist or explorer are right at home in the Portland Room, while overscale print on pillows captures the bohemian vibe of the city.
The colors and feel of the Columbia River Gorge as seen from the famous Crown Point lookout are "fantastic," says Uma, and inspired the vignette.
